[eat] Gastronomic bliss at Wolfhound @ Itaewon, Seoul

I’ve just realised it’s been more than three weeks since I last updated. I’d blame life, if everyone didn’t already know my severe lack of consistency on anything that requires more than 15 minutes of concentration. That’s not the point however. The point is, right now as I’m wrapped up in piles of blankets like a giant burrito and binge watching Skins, all I want is some nice comfort food followed by maybe 2 tubes of ice cream and a good night sleep. Luckily my partner who’s now at Wolfhound chilling has promised to bring home just what I want. So until I get my fish and chips, I could pause my weekend marathon and use some time to review Wolfhound.

[eat] Hearty burgers at Meneer Smakers @ Utrecht, the Netherlands

Meneer Smakers is such a famous burger resto in Utrecht that everyone I know of keeps raving about it. Such a shame I hadn’t had a chance to visit the place until my bf arrived. However, true to its fame, Smakers did not disappoint and both the bf and I immensely enjoyed our hearty burgers there.

[eat] Brunch at Tartine Bakery & Pie cafe @ Itaewon, Seoul

Noone passes by Tartine without pausing for a little while and taking a brief moment to just stand there and admire the gorgeous little pies stored on the glass shelves inside the bakery shop. It doesn’t help either that the shops themselves are so visually pleasing with the bright yellow painted exterior and the cozy look derived from the lights inside. As I am always in a constant dire need of sweet treats, needless to say the sudden encounter with Tartine left me reeling with joy. Unfortunately, the trip to Tartine had to make me lie down and think about the decisions I’d made. Tartine was nothing but a disappointment.

[eat] Pizza at Trevia pizza di Roma @ Noksapyeong, Seoul

Believe it or not I have an emotional connection with pizza. I could consume a whole large pizza without finding myself feeling guilty at the slightest about how it is going to entirely destroy my diet whatsoever. Pizza is love pizza is what makes the world go round let me tell you.

If you’re a Noksapyeong/Itaewon frequenter, you probably already know that Trevia pizza di Roma is one of the most popular pizza restos in the area and god do they live up to the reputation.

[eat] Lunch at De Burgemeester @ Utrecht, the Netherlands

Last weekend I was walking to Utrecht centre with a need for some hamburger in mind. Of course whenever I wanted to do something, that ‘something’ turns out to be unavailable: the burger place was closed. Desperate and hungry, I walked around for a bit looking for a decent place to fill up my angry tummy. De Burgemeester, a modest lunchroom–small in size, but cramped with customers–caught my eyes immediately.

[eat] Incredible breakfast at De Bakkerswinkel @ Utrecht, the Netherlands

De Bakkerswinkel is a highly popular bakery/bistro with branches located in several major Dutch cities. I felt in love with it the moment I came across the Utrecht’s branch’s photos on the Internet. My tutor, likewise, only has compliments for it xD As a serious food blogger, I had no choice but to check it out.

[eat] Eating around Utrecht, or how I spent my first birthday in Europe

So… happy birthday to me =}} Finally my day is over. It was an uneventful day, but was enjoyably spent. My friend came all the way from Leeuwarden to see me, and I spent the whole day with her (or the other way round). We just walked around Utrecht, doing some shopping, sightseeing, and eating (surprise surprise).

[eat] Chicken steak at Roscoco @ Hongdae, Seoul

It’s embarrassing to say this but the more I eat food the less I know about them. Just when I thought there was no way that any chicken dish cooked with any kind of method could wow me anymore this happened and had me seriously think about my attitude to chicken. I mean, chicken is healthy and delicious and all that jazz, but it doesn’t have this element of surprise because it seems I have eaten enough chicken in my life to have a reason not to be impressed by it. My my, I’m glad I went to Roscoco and had an eye-opening experience because that restaurant had one bucket of awesomeness that is chicken.

[leisure] Utrecht City tour & snacks at Broodje Mario

For a food blog, I must admit that my blog has severely lacked of food reviews lately. I promise that I will write about food here AND that in Hong Kong & Korea asap x( So please bear with my non-food rambling & picture spamming for now.
Yesterday the new college kids got to see Utrecht in daylight. We had a fun city tour and got to appreciate the beauty of Utrecht in all its glory, and of course, got to try some snacks at Broodje Mario, arguably Utrecht’s most famous street snack bar.

[eat] Brunch at Butterfinger Pancakes @ Apgujeong, Seoul

Just when I thought that my Gangnam food-quest would temporarily stop at The fish roe soup, it actually had just begun. Being constantly tired from working in the suffocating and excruciating heat of Seoul made me crave a nice brunch shared with a buddy in a nicely air-conditioned place. Hastily finished my work like a good white-collar slave, I immediately hopped on the train to Apgujeong for some gastronomic self-pappering.
